ABOUT JORDAN
Aloha. My name is Jordan S. Nāholowaʻa Murph. I am from the island of Hawaiʻi, and I am a photographer based in San Francisco and Honolulu.
I grew up on the east side of Hawaiʻi, got to go to boarding school for Hawaiian kids in Honolulu, was able to go to college at UH Mānoa, and was the last Lighting & Flash Wizard Technician trained at Sports Illustrated. NO-SYNC…if you know, you know ;)
I was first assistant to Sports Illustrated staff photographer John W. McDonough from 2008 to 2012 and was on staff as the West Coast Field Photo Editor and Technician from 2014-2017. I have been a contributing photographer since then.
In 2013 I created Angel Photo Services, the internal photography department for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, and later served as the Team Photographer from 2016-17.
My photographs focus on capturing color, movement, energy, and emotion. I always aim to create graphical images that tell a story with a long-lasting shelf life and usability. My personal work focuses on documenting and preserving Hawaiʻi.
